Copeland Wilkes "Dot" GASTONIA Mrs. Wilkes, 74, went to be with her Lord on Monday, January 12, 2004 at Gaston Memorial Hospital. She was born in Union County, NC on February 10, 1929 and' was the daughter of the William Robert and Hessie Clark Medlin.

She worked for a number of years as a supervisor with Lance, Inc. and at the time of her death was a homemaker. She was a member of Lower Browns Creek Baptist Church, Burnsville, NC and attended Unity Baptist Church, Gastonia, NC. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Those who knew her were touched by her grace, her love and her caring heart.

Survivors include her children, Richard D. Copeland of Matthews, NC, Phil and his wife, Lora Copeland, of Charlotte, NC, John R. "Scooter" Copeland Gastonia, NC, Janet L. Jenkins of Gastonia, NC: sisters, Nell Harrington of Monroe, NC, Betty Horne of Indian Trail, NC, June Baucom of Mint Hill, NC, and Sandy McCall of Cornelius, NC; six grandchildren, Michael, Lori, Bryan and his wife, Lori, Daniel, Ryan and Kassie; and one great grandchild, McKay. Don Keith Wyke NORTH WILKESBORO Mr. Wyke, age 62, of Stony Brook Court, North Wilkesboro died Monday, January 12, 2004 at his home in Blowing Rock. A memorial service will be held Thursday 10:00 AM, January 15, 2004 at First Baptist Church of North Wilkesboro with Dr.

N. Nelson Granade, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the fellowship hall at the church. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM in Mount Lawn Memorial Park in Boone.

Mr. Wyke was born June 13, 1941 in Watauga County to Frank and Jean Little Wyke. He was the grandson of Poly Carp and Jean Brown Wyke and was raised in Boone. Mr. Wyke was a graduate UNC Chapel Hill in 1964.

He was a member of First Baptist Church in North Wilkesboro, where he served as a former chairman of the Building and Grounds and the Finance Committees. Mr. Wyke was a former member of the board of directors of the UNC Educational Foundation and a lifetime member of the UNC Alumni Association. He was past president of North Wilkesboro Optimist Club, North Wilkesboro PTA and Woodward PTA. He was the Chief Financial Officer of Lowe's Foods for 17 years.

Mr. Wyke was the of Wyke's Amoco in Wilkesboro, Mountain View Galaxy in Mountain View, Troutman Galaxy in Troutman and Market Basket Galaxy in Statesville. A brother, Bob Wyke preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife, Ala Sue McGuire Wyke of the home; three daughters and sons-in-law, Ala Marinn Wyke and Scott Bengel of Charlotte, Amber Sue Wyke and John Peters of Greensboro, Donna Cosby Wyke and Matt Reid of Buffalo, NY; three brothers, Gene L. Wyke of Wrightsville Beach, James F.

Wyke of Doraville, GA, Rick Wyke of Morganton; and seven grandchildren, Chase Bengel, Copelyn Bengel, Emma Peters, Eliza Peters, Isabella Reid and Adelaide Reid. In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Keith Wyke Scholarship Fund, Candace Clark, UNC Chapel Hill Development Office, Box 309, Chapel Hill, NC 27514. Saundra Marlow Beacham STATESVILLE Mrs. Beacham, age 64, of 2909 Eastway Drive, Monday, January 12, 2004 at Iredell Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Born January 30, 1939 in Rowan County, she was a daughter of the late Charles J. and Ruth Elliott Marlow. She was a graduate of A.L. Brown High School, a member the ladies auxiliary of the V.F.W., was a member of Newell Baptist Church in Charlotte and prior to her retirement was a saleslady with both Belk and Spainhour department stores in Statesville. On September 23, 1956 she was married to Charles A.

Beacham, who survives of the home. Mrs. Beacham is also survived by three sons, Scott A. Meacham, Sr. and wife, Shelia, of Statesville, Jeffery A.

Beacham of Charlotte, and Charles A. Beacham, of Carson City, NV; three grandchildren, Jillian, Scott Allen, Jr. and Matthew Levi Beacham; one brother, Larry J. Marlow and wife, Sharon, of Concord. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday at Temple Baptist Church on Museum Road.

Witt, 79, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 after a recent illness. He was born in Surry County on March 23, 1924 to John and Elizabeth Witt. He was a life member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church and served as a deacon for many years. He served with the 859th Bombardment Squadron, the 492nd Bombardment Group of the 8th Air Force World War II. He was duringed the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with 4 Oak Leaf Clusters and the EAME ribbon with 2.

Stars. He remained a VFW and Bronze, the 467 Bombardment Group (Heavy) Association Ltd. Following the completion of his military service, he returned to Pilot Mountain, NC, and married Lolene Montgomery in 1945. They enjoyed 49 years of marriage. She preceded him in death in 1995.

A sister, Harriett Rees, also preceded him in death. Survivors are his daughter, Sandy W. Dickinson and husband Charlie of Charlotte; one granddaughter, Stacie D. Simmons and husband Jason of Greensboro; a grandson, Carter Dickinson of Wilmington; two brothers, John Witt and Wilbur Witt; and two sisters, Stella Chrismon of Gibsonville and Alma Richards of Baton Rouge, LA. The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m.

She was married to the late Theron Hoil Simpson and was the daughter of the late Judge Washington Starnes and Sally Crow Starnes. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Allene Melton and Eula Mae Simpson.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of Stewart Circle of 78 Unity AR and a Presbyterian charter Church member for. years the Waxhaw Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by a daughter, Mary Alice Wilson of Waxhaw; two grandchildren, Steven Wilson of Waxhaw and Beth W. Blythe and husband, Perry, of Mineral Springs; four great grandchildren, Leah Beth Wilson Zachary Wilson of Monroe, and Alexandra Blythe and Samantha Blythe, both of Mineral Springs.
