Anyone here successfully sleep train with a pacifier? I’ve heard and seen mixed things. Sleep has been a struggle since the 4 month regression and I think we are finally ready to make some changes. Ideally I want my little one to use his pacifier to soothe himself and fall asleep, I just don’t know if this is unrealistic. He can find it and put it in himself. When I rock him with his pacifier he falls asleep quickly. Anyone have any insight or experience?

we aren't necessarily sleep training, but my baby does sleep with a pacifier. typically he is a very good sleeper. he's a little over 8 months old and he's been fairly consistently sleeping through the night since 6ish months. I always throw at least 2 pacifiers into his crib with him so he can find one easier when he wants it. he still goes through periods or regressions when he will have more sleeping trouble for a few days to a week but in general he sleeps 8 hour stretches if not longer. to be fair though, I think I just got lucky with a baby who sleeps well. I havent had to do much to encourage him to sleep long stretches, he just kinda started doing it a few weeks after we moved him into his crib in his own room around 5 ish months.

We did! We tried without the Paci but it just made sleep training 10x worse. Now that he is able to put it in himself it helps a lot too because we’re not constantly playing the Paci game. We just surround him with paci’s every night (like literally 10) incase he knocks any out, and so they are easy to find. Now if he wakes up he just pops one back in and goes right back to sleep, and usually sleeps from 8-8 every night.

Yep, we just keep two or three pacis in the crib each night bc baby often knocks one out. He’s able to put it back in his mouth even when he’s mostly asleep, so it’s a great way for him to self soothe!
