    Main Storyline Quests

I've been really enjoying the game so far, especially the epic cutscenes which are the Main Storyline Quests. But there is a resounding issue that I have with it. I just feel that as an MMORPG, you should be able to go through the story with your friends and not be forced to do things alone.

I get it, Naoki Yoshida wanted to make an MMO that would gently get people new to them more into them and understand them better. He didn't want players to "have" to be in a party to do content. And that's nice. The option to do things by yourself are there. But I also believe we should have the option to do things together. Not just in some parts of the story, but in ALL the parts of the story.

I feel that the defining feature of an MMO game is slightly lost here. Isn't the point of a Massive Multiplayer Online Game is to play... well... multiplayer ? I'm willing to overlook this, since its the first iteration of this game. But future expansion packs should focus more on multiplayer mechanics. Solo should be an option, not a mandatory thing. I hope the devs read this feed back and take it seriously. The game and the story is much better enjoyed with your friends by your side.

You do realize that much of the main story begins to require grouping to progress, right?

I'm currently stuck at Brayflox's part because I sat in the queue, as a healer, for 10min. Got a group, group fell apart (I'll share in the blame). Then waited, giving up, for another 15min.

At this point I will never be able to continue the story. This is why this method of storytelling is a seriously bad idea.

It's made worse by the fact that new players (non-1.0ers at least) must complete "Go Meet This Person" quests in order to unlock dungeons. So even if I say "F it" and just power on to 50 I will never be able to do the end-game dungeons because I haven't unlocked them....through the story line....which requires me to run dungeons, at certain points, that people aren't running anymore in relatively frequent manor.

So, I'm not sure why you say solo shouldn't be mandatory, when it is in fact, grouping that is mandatory.

I'd rather have the opposite. Give me the option to go into a dungeon solo without any level cap.

Especially since every time you beat one the NPCs credit you with single-handedly making it thru. Let's test that.

Why are you even playing an MMO if you don't want to interact with other players in dungeons? Grouping up for dungeons is a staple in any MMO nowadays.

Additionally, removing the group dynamics found in dungeons would remove all challenge in dungeons as well. It could simply not be the same experience.

As someone who is against this game forcing you to group up for FATEs to grind your way to 50, I can't help but think that what you're asking for is just ridiculous. It's not a single player game. There has to be SOME interaction with other players. Otherwise MMOs are not for you.

I'd rather not be forced to group.

And I would like to finish this story, which I can't. Because I need to run a dungeon that doesn't appear to be ran (run?) anymore.

I'm having the same problem Just to get my chocobo mount I'm sitting for hours at a time in queues. Just to be able to unlock my grand company this is disgusting. Worst design in a game to require player to do a long chain of quests to be able to use their mount. As a healer or a tank not so bad. But spending 2 hours in a queue as a dps is a joke, a sick joke that needs to be rectified.

We shouldn't be forced to go Solo or forced to Group. I really don't understand why we can't pick and choose how many (if any at all) we want in "our" story.

So I agree we should be able to do the story with our friends, and I also agree we shouldn't need 4 people for a Dungeon!

My wife and I bought this game to play together and we have to disband our party every instance fight. Even when we tried Botany, we couldn't do Leve's together. This is a MMO right? O_o

I would like to see a Story Mode for all Dungeons

Grants a buff that boosts damage, healing, HP, reduces damage taken, and; most important. Prevents gaining XP, Gil, or any items other than Quest-related Items while in the dungeon.

This way no major rework should be needed in the game code or in the dungeon layout. The game simply checks for the buff and acts accordingly.

And maybe add 'henchmen' (think Guild Wars "1"), so you can roll in as a tank and have a healer NPC keep you up, or a tank NPC take the hits while you heal/dps....basically what happens when Yda and Co. join you during Duty Missions.

    The sole purpose?

Allow progression in the personal story so players can 'stay with the group' of players that have finished the story.

An additional bonus is that players can see the fight first hand with a 'safety net', so they can go in with a Player Party and know the fights.

I completely agree with this! The quests should be designed for solo OR multi-player/co-operative participation. To have to drop party and invite everyone EACH TIME a story/class quest is initiated is tiresome and detracts from the game, imo.

I remember Yoshi saying he would "think" about it, in one of those notes on the Beta forums. But I'm unsure how, we as a community can be heard these days as I don't think as many people frequent these forums as the Alpha/Beta one.
