In addition, Final Fantasy 14 will make total party wipes in dungeons faster to recover from, as the dungeon shortcut function will be changed to significantly cut the travel time required to return to a boss arena.
As the fifth expansion for Square Enix's critically acclaimed MMORPG, Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail is the start of a new chapter for the long-running game. In Dawntrail, the Warrior of Light and their companions will travel to the western continent Tural, also called the New World, to take part in a rite of succession to determine its next ruler. Throughout the expansion, players will explore new environments, from the jungles near the city of Tuliyollal to the mysterious metropolis named Solution Nine, and other sights for players to discover during the main story.

Final Fantasy 14 Announces Next Live Letter Date and In-Game Currency Changes
Ahead of Dawntrail's launch, Final Fantasy 14 reveals two pieces of information for players to consider in their expansion preparation plans.
Throughout Dawntrail, players will be tasked with exploring dungeons, though some may have tricky mechanics that could require multiple attempts to conquer. Twitter user FrostyTVstream posted a video from the Final Fantasy 14: Dawntrail media tour of one big change arriving with the expansion that should make recovering from total party wipes much quicker. During a run in the level 91 dungeon called Ihuykatumu, Frosty's Pictomancer took a hit that immediately knocked them out and sent them to the dungeon's entrance. However, Frosty noted that the shortcut option available at the entrance took him immediately to the arena where the boss was waiting. Final Fantasy 14 players can currently take a shortcut following a wipe, but they will appear in the halls leading up to the boss' arena and be forced to walk the rest of the way.
FF14 Will Improve Dungeon Shortcuts And Allow Players to Hide The Crowds Around NPCs
The change to dungeon shortcuts should save significant time for players who want to experience the main story of Dawntrail at their own pace. In another change, Twitter users AmeMiqo and umadori0726 stated that a new option allows players to hide crowds of characters who surround quest NPCs. The option will only activate as players approach an essential NPC, and will be available in the game's Display Settings in Patch 7.0. This will make interacting with the NPCs easier and trim down the load times and resource usage on machines that may struggle to play Final Fantasy 14.
Between these new features and answering server capacity questions, the Final Fantasy 14 development team remains committed to ensuring a smooth expansion launch. Only time will tell how much these changes will impact player experiences once Dawntrail arrives.
