All About The Holy Spirit (2024)

The Holy Spirit

Holy Spirit, Spirit of Jesus, Spirit of God, Spirit of Promise, Spirit of Christ, Spirit of the LORD (Yahweh), Spirit of the Lord God (Yahweh Adonai), Spirit of Truth, Spirit of His Son, The Helper, Comforter, Advocate, Counselor

The Holy Spirit has the basic attributes of God. and does work that only God does. The Holy Spirit is intelligent, and speaks and acts like a divine Person. The Holy Spirit has attributes like a person and has attributes of God. He is eternal and has holiness. He is omnipresent (present everywhere), omnipotent (all powerful) and omniscient (all knowing) which are attributes of God’s essence and characteristics of the nature of God’s existence.

Holiness In more than 90 places, the Bible calls the Spirit of God “the Holy Spirit.” Holiness is a basic characteristic of the Spirit. The Spirit is so holy that blasphemy against the Spirit cannot be forgiven, although blasphemy against Jesus could be.

Matthew 12:32 Insulting the Spirit is more sinful than trampling the Son of God under foot

And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Hebrews 10:29 This indicates that the Spirit is inherently holy, holy in essence, rather than having an assigned or secondary holiness such as the temple had. The Spirit also has the infinite attributes of God: unlimited in time, space, power and knowledge.

How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?

Matthew 12:31-32 Blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is the biggest sin one could ever commit, which doesn’t make sense unless the Holy Spirit is both personal (to sin against) and on the same level with God Himself.

Therefore I tell you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven people, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven. And whoever speaks a word against the Son of Man will be forgiven, but whoever speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come.

Mark 3:22; 28-30 They called the Spirit of Jesus, the prince of demons and an unclean spirit. Calling the Holy Spirit an evil being instead of who he is, is guilty of an eternal sin that will never be forgiven.

And the scribes, who came down from Jerusalem, were saying, “He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and “by the prince of demons he casts out the demons.”... “Truly, I say to you, all sins will be forgiven the children of man, and whatever blasphemies they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit never has forgiveness, but is guilty of an eternal sin”, for they were saying, “He has an unclean spirit.”

Acts 5:3 The point Peter made is that Ananias lied not just to God’s representatives (man), but to God himself, and the Holy Spirit is God to whom Ananias lied.

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back for yourself part of the proceeds of the land? While it remained unsold, did it not remain your own? And after it was sold, was it not at your disposal? Why is it that you have contrived this deed in your heart? You have not lied to man but to God.”

A temple is a building for a deity to live in, not a monument to an impersonal power. When Paul writes that our bodies are the “temple of the Holy Spirit”, he implies that the Holy Spirit is God. And he also calls our body “the temple of God”.

1 Corinthians 3:16-17 Our body is the Temple of God and the Holy Spirit dwells there.

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you? If anyone destroys God's temple, God will destroy him. For God's temple is holy, and you are that temple.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who is from God.

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own,

2 Corinthians 6:16 Our bodies are the Temple of the Living God says the Lord God Almighty

What agreement has the temple of God with idols? For we are the temple of the living God; as God said, “I will make my dwelling among them and walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Therefore go out from their midst, and be separate from them, says the Lord, and touch no unclean thing; then I will welcome you, and I will be a father to you, and you shall be sons and daughters to me, says the Lord Almighty.”

Ephesians 2:18 The Holy Spirit is building us all up together into a dwelling place for God. The foundation of that temple is Jesus, the cornerstone.

For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord. In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

Revelation 21:1-3, 22 God and the Lamb (Jesus) are both the new temple (physical presence) in the future new Jerusalem in Heaven

Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

And I saw no temple in the city, for its temple is the Lord God the Almighty AND the Lamb.

Romans 8:9 The Spirit of God is the same as the Spirit of Christ.

“However, you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Him.”

Galatians 4:6 God sent the Spirit of His Son, Jesus, into our hearts.

Because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”

John 15:26 Jesus said the Helper and Spirit of Truth PROCEEDS from the Father. The word “Proceed” is in the present tense, and in Greek, that shows it is a regular continual ongoing action. The Holy Spirit is continuously and always proceeding from the Father.

But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

2 Corinthians 3:16-18 “The Lord” is the Holy Spirit

But when one turns to the Lord, the veil is removed. Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. And we all, with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another. For this comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.

2 Thessalonians 3:5 “the Lord is the Spirit”? He is different from God and Christ and directs us to their love and steadfastness.

May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.

Isaiah 63:10-14 The Holy Spirit led the nation of Israel out of Egypt, and then He gave them rest.

But they rebelled and grieved his Holy Spirit; therefore he turned to be their enemy, and himself fought against them. Then he remembered the days of old, of Moses and his people. Where is he who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of his flock? Where is he who put in the midst of them his Holy Spirit, who caused his glorious arm to go at the right hand of Moses, who divided the waters before them to make for himself an everlasting name, who led them through the depths? Like a horse in the desert, they did not stumble. Like livestock that go down into the valley, the Spirit of the Lord gave them rest. So you led your people, to make for yourself a glorious name.

Exodus 20:1-3 God (plural - Gods) said Yahweh brought Israel out of Egypt

And God (Elohim) spoke all these words, saying, “I am the Lord (Yahweh) your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery. “You shall have no other gods before me.

Jude 5 Jesus brought Israel out of Egypt 2000 years before his human birth

Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

Judges 2:1-2 The Angel of the Lord brought Israel out of Egypt and will always keep his covenant

Now the Angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bochim. And he said, “I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you,

Romans 8:9 Spirit of God is the Spirit of Christ

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

1 Peter 1:10-11 The Old Testament prophets prophesied, way before Jesus was born, by the “Spirit of Christ” who was in them.

Concerning this salvation, the prophets who prophesied about the grace that was to be yours searched and inquired carefully, inquiring what person or time the Spirit of Christ in them was indicating when he predicted the sufferings of Christ and the subsequent glories.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Spirit of God

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

Acts 16:7 Spirit of Jesus

And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.

John 16:13 Spirit of Truth only speaks whatever he hears and tell you the future

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.

Isaiah 61:1 Yahweh anointed him with the Spirit of the Lord God

The Spirit of the Lord God(Yahweh Adonai) is upon me, because the Lord(Yahweh) has anointed me to bring good news to the poor; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to those who are bound;

The Bible describes the Holy Spirit as having a personality and human like characteristics. He thinks and makes decisions, speaks and can be spoken to, and acts and intercedes for us. This shows that the Spirit is just as personal as the Father and Son are. Our relationship with God, which is only possible through the Holy Spirit, is a personal Father-Child relationship.

Acts 13:2 Only a person says “me” or “I”. Holy Spirit is a person

While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”

Acts 10:20 The Holy Spirit said “‘I’ have sent them.”

“Rise and go down and accompany them without hesitation, for I have sent them.”

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the nameof the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 13:14 The Holy Spirit has fellowship, and there are three individuals in this verse.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

1 John 4:1-3 Spirits are persons

Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God, and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you heard was coming and now is in the world already.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16 The Holy Spirit reveals things. He searches everything and knows our thoughts. The Holy Spirit knows and understands God’s thoughts. So, we understand the things of God. We’re taught by the Holy Spirit so we get spiritual wisdom. Believers can discern spiritual things. We have the mind of Christ, which is the Spirit of Christ (another name for the Holy Spirit in the Bible).

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. For the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God. For who knows a person's thoughts except the spirit of that person, which is in him? So also no one comprehends the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might understand the things freely given us by God. And we impart this in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual truths to those who are spiritual.

14 The natural person does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are folly to him, and he is not able to understand them because they are spiritually discerned. 15 The spiritual person judges all things, but is himself to be judged by no one. 16 “For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?” But we have the mind of Christ.

Romans 8:27 The mind of the Spirit means He makes decisions and judgment calls.

And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Acts 15:28 It seemed good, in his mind, to the Holy Spirit.

For it has seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us to lay on you no greater burden than these requirements:

The Holy Spirit has the exact same attributes that God has. He is holy, eternal, all present, all powerful and all knowing. These are characteristics that define the essence of who God (Yahweh) is. They are the nature of God’s divine existence.

Isaiah 40:13 The Holy Spirit is all knowing.

Who has measured the Spirit of the Lord, or what man shows him his counsel?

Isaiah 40:28 Yahweh is the creator of all and his understanding is unsearchable.

John 16:14-15 The Holy Spirit will bring glory to Jesus

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord;and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good… All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as He wills.

And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.

Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us.

Ephesians 1:13 When we believed in Jesus, we were sealed with the Holy Spirit who was promised to us and he guarantees we get our inheritance.

1 Corinthians 2:10-16 The Holy Spirit teaches us

these things God has revealed to us through the Spirit. Hebrews 10:29 The Holy Spirit can be Insulted

How much worse punishment, do you think, will be deserved by the one who has trampled underfoot the Son of God, and has profaned the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified, and has outraged the Spirit of grace?

Adonai and Holy Spirit

Acts 28:25-27 Paul quoted what God (Adonai) said in Isaiah 6, but when he quoted it, he said it was the Holy Spirit who said it. The Holy Spirit and Adonai must be the same.

“The Holy Spirit was right in saying to your fathers through Isaiah the prophet:“‘Go to this people, and say, “You will indeed hear but never understand, and you will indeed see but never perceive.” For this people's heart has grown dull, and with their ears they can barely hear, and their eyes they have closed; lest they should see with their eyes and hear with their ears and understand with their heart and turn, and I would heal them.’

Isaiah 6:8-10 It is Adonai who speaks, but Paul quoted the same passage in Acts 28 and claimed it was the Holy Spirit who said this. The Lord asks “Who will go for US?

And I heard the voice of the Lord (Adonai) saying, “Whom shall I send, and who will go for US?” Then I said, “Here I am! Send me.” And he said, “Go, and say to this people: “‘Keep on hearing, but do not understand; keep on seeing, but do not perceive.’ Make the heart of this people dull, and their ears heavy, and blind their eyes; lest they see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their hearts, and turn and be healed.”

Yahweh and Holy Spirit

Hebrews 3:7-11 The author of Hebrews writes that this is what “the Holy Spirit says”, but in the original Old Testament passage in Psalm 95, it says Yahweh spoke these words. The Holy Spirit must be Yahweh.

Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says, “Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the wilderness, where your fathers put me to the test and saw my works for forty years. Therefore I was provoked with that generation, and said, ‘They always go astray in their heart; they have not known my ways.’ As I swore in my wrath, ‘They shall not enter my rest.’”

Psalm 95:6—----7-11 Yahweh said this, but in Hebrews 3:7-11 it says that the Holy Spirit said it.

For he is our God (Elohim), and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers put ME(Yahweh) to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. For forty years I loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.”

Always, the Holy Spirit’s works are God’s works. Whatever the Holy Spirit says or does is what God is saying or doing; the Spirit fully represents God. The Holy Spirit does work that only God can do.

The Holy Spirit sanctifies, which means He constantly shapes believers to be more and more like Jesus.

2 Thessalonians 2:13 Believers should be thankful because God chose us to be saved by belief in the truth, through the Spirit’s work.

But we ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers beloved by the Lord, because God chose you as the firstfruits to be saved, through sanctification by the Spirit and belief in the truth.

“But when the Helper comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceeds from the Father, he will bear witness about me.

John 12:49-50 Jesus speaks what God the Father tells him to say.

John 16:13 Holy Spirit speaks what he hears from God the Father

Hebrews 3:7-11 Holy Spirit warns to not harden your hearts and put him to the test again, but he is quoting what Yahweh said in Psalm 95 they did to Him. That they hardened their hearts and put him to the test.

Psalm 95 The Holy Spirit is equated with the God of the Israelites, who created all things

Oh come, let us sing to the Lord(Yahweh); let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord(Yahweh) is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord (Yahweh), our Maker! For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. Today, if you hear his (Yahweh) voice, do not harden your hearts, as at Meribah, as on the day at Massah in the wilderness, when your fathers put me to the test and put me to the proof, though they had seen my work. For forty years I (Yahweh) loathed that generation and said, “They are a people who go astray in their heart, and they have not known my ways.” Therefore I swore in my wrath, “They shall not enter my rest.”

Several passages of Scripture grammatically make the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit to be equals through parallel sentence construction.

1 Corinthians 12:4-6

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone.

2 Corinthians 13:14

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all….

1 Peter 1:2

according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, in the sanctification of the Spirit, for obedience to Jesus Christ and for sprinkling with his blood:

Job 33:4 Holy Spirit made him

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Psalm 104:30 God sends the Holy Spirit and things get created

When you send forth your Spirit, they are created, and you renew the face of the ground.

Genesis 1:2 The Holy Spirit was involved in creation

The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Because the Holy Spirit lives in us, we can say that God lives in us, because the Holy Spirit is in some way God.

Romans 8:9 The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and the Spirit of Christ

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him.

Ephesians 2:22 Holy Spirit is Building the Body of Believers (The Church) into a dwelling place for God.

In him you also are being built together into a dwelling place for God by the Spirit.

1 John 3:24 God’s abode is inside of believers because God gave us the Holy Spirit.

Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.

1 John 4:13 The Holy Spirit “lives” in us.

By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his Spirit.

Romans 8:11 The Holy Spirit raised Jesus from the dead and will raise believers bodies from the dead too.

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

1 Corinthians 3:16 Believers bodies are God’s Temple that the Holy Spirit lives in.

Do you not know that you are God's temple and that God's Spirit dwells in you?

Ephesians 5:18 Holy Spirit Fills Us

And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit

2 Corinthians 1:22 Holy Spirit Lives in our Hearts

and who has also put his seal on us and given us his Spirit in our hearts as a guarantee.

Ezekiel 36:26-27 Holy Spirit Lives in our Hearts

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

John 14:16-17 Holy Spirit Lives in Us

And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Helper, to be with you forever, even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees him nor knows him. You know him, for he dwells with you and will be in you.

Hebrews 10:15-17 The Holy Spirit quotes as himself being Yahweh, who inspired the prophet in Jeremiah 31 to prophecy of the New Covenant coming, “This covenant, declares the Lord:… I will put my laws on their hearts” and forgive their sins. This is God the Holy Spirit.

And the Holy Spirit also bears witness to us; for after saying, “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws on their hearts, and write them on their minds,” then he adds, “I will remember their sins and their lawless deeds no more.”

Jeremiah 31:31-34 Yahweh says he is the one who led Israel out of Egypt and he will establish a New Covenant written on our hearts and he will forgive our sins.

“Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord(Yahweh), when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, not like the covenant that I made with their fathers on the day when I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt, my covenant that they broke, though I was their husband, declares the Lord (Yahweh),.For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my law within them, and I will write it on their hearts. And I will be their God, and they shall be my people. And no longer shall each one teach his neighbor and each his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord (Yahweh),,’ for they shall all know me, from the least of them to the greatest, declares the Lord (Yahweh). For I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.”

Ezekiel 36:26-27 Holy Spirit lives in hearts, with the New Covenant, to help us obey God.

And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes and be careful to obey my rules.

2 Corinthians 3:5-6 The Spirit gives life in the New Covenant and the letter of the law kills.

our sufficiency is from God, who has made us sufficient to be ministers of a new covenant, not of the letter but of the Spirit. For the letter kills, but the Spirit gives life.

2 Thessalonians 2:8 The breath of Jesus will kill the Antichrist

And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord Jesus will kill with the breath of his mouth and bring to nothing by the appearance of his coming.

Revelation 19:13-15 Jesus is the Word of God who strikes down the nations with a sword coming out of his mouth.

he is called is The Word of God. And the armies of heaven, arrayed in fine linen, white and pure, were following him on white horses. From his mouth comes a sharp sword with which to strike down the nations.

Ephesians 6:13,14, 17To fight spiritual battles, we need the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God

Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness… and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

Hebrews 4:12-13 The Word of God is sharper than any sword and judges the thoughts and intents of the heart.

For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart. And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.

Romans 8:11 The Holy Spirit raised Jesus to life and he will raise believers, with their bodies, to life too.

If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

In Hebrew and Greek “spirit” means “breath”.

Job 33:4 Two parallel statements in poetry. The Holy Spirit made him = breath of Almighty gave him life.

The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Job 32:8

But it is the spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that makes him understand.

Psalm 104:30 When God sends out the Holy Spirit, they are created.

When you send forth your Spirit, they are created and you renew the face of the ground.

Psalm 33:6 When Yahweh spoke the word, his breath created the sky and the stars.

By the word of the Lord (Yahweh) the heavens were made, and by the breath (Spirit) of his mouth all their host.

John 20:22 Jesus gave the Holy Spirit by breathing on them. His breath is the Holy Spirit, same Spirit as Yahweh.

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit”.

Genesis 2:7 Yahweh Elohim created man and gave him life by breathing into him

then the Lord God formed the man of dust from the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life, and the man became a living creature.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 All scripture is breathed out by God

All scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.

Ezekiel 37:5-6, 10 Adonai Yahweh brought an army back to life from their bones and breathed life into them.

Thus says the Lord God(Adonai Yahweh) to these bones: Behold, I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. And I will lay sinews upon you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live, and you shall know that I am the Lord.” ... and the breath came into them, and they lived and stood on their feet, an exceedingly great army.

Ezekiel 37:12-14 God will open up graves and raise them from the dead and give them His Spirit so they will live.

Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God (Adonai Yahweh): Behold, I will open your graves and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will bring you into the land of Israel. And you shall know that I am the Lord (Yahweh), when I open your graves, and raise you from your graves, O my people. And I will put my Spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you in your own land.

Isaiah 42:5 Elohim said, Yahweh created Earth and gives breath and spirit to the people.

Thus says God (Elohim - Gods), the Lord (Yahweh), who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it, who gives breath to the people on it and spirit to those who walk in it:

Genesis 1:2 In the beginning of creation, the Holy Spirit was active over the waters

The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters.

Romans 8:9 The Spirit of God is equal to the Spirit of Christ. If Christ is IN YOU then, the Spirit of God, the same spirit who raised Jesus from the dead, will raise our bodies from the dead.

You, however, are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if in fact the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. But if Christ is in you, although the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ Jesus from the deadwill also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit who dwells in you.

We are not natural sons of God but rather adopted into the family. Because we are adopted, we don’t have to share God’s qualities even though He calls us “sons of God”.

An example:

A family of sloths might adopt a turtle and welcome him into their family. The turtle might be loved and welcomed into the sloth’s family. However, that doesn’t mean the turtle can hang upside down on trees. Though he is a son, he is a son by adoption. So it’s not required that the turtle be the same species with the sloths… because he’s adopted.

Further, the Bible makes it clear that Jesus is the “only” Son of God.

Ephesians 1:5

he predestined us] for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,

John 3:5 We must be born of the Spirit of God to enter God’s kingdom

Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.

Luke 1:35 The Holy Spirit is the power of the Most High will cause the Son of God to be born.

And the angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; therefore the child to be born will be called holy, the Son of God.

Matthew 1:18-23 Mary’s baby came from the Holy Spirit

When his mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child from the Holy Spirit… behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying… that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and they shall call his name Immanuel” (which means, God with us).

John 1:12 Full divinity of the Begetter. The Spirit begets believers, born of God.

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 6:63 The Holy Spirit gives life

It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all. The words that I have spoken to you are spirit and life.

Galatians 4:4-7 The Holy Spirit changes us to be born again sons and daughters of God

But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons. And because you are sons, God has sent the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, “Abba! Father!”. So you are no longer a slave, but a son, and if a son, then an heir through God.

Romans 8:12-18 The Holy Spirit makes us children of God and therefore heirs of God

So then, brothers, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die, but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. 14 For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. 15 For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17 and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

2 Peter 1:21 The Holy Spirit gives people prophetic words from God.

For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

Acts 21:11 The prophet, Agabus, got a word from the Holy Spirit about Paul’s future.

While we were staying for many days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. And coming to us, he took Paul's belt and bound his own feet and hands and said, “Thus says the Holy Spirit, ‘This is how the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt and deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”

Philippians 1:19 Deliverance will happen through prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ

for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance,

Ephesians 6:18

praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Romans 9:1 Paul takes the Oath of Testimony, swears he’s telling the truth in Christ and in the Holy Spirit.

I am speaking the truth in Christ, I am not lying; my conscience bears me witness in the Holy Spirit.

Isaiah 48:16 Three people are spoken of here. God the Father sent the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Draw near to me, hear this: from the beginning I have not spoken in secret, from the time it came to be I have been there.” And now the Lord God(Yahweh Adonai) has sent me, and his Spirit.

Yahweh is the name that God seems to use for the Trinity.

There are three equal persons who make up the One God we call Yahweh.

God the Father is the creative form of God. He directs.

God the Son is the physical form of God. He shows up and acts.

God the Spirit is the power form of God. He empowers.

Maybe the Trinity could sort of, but not perfectly, be explained like the sun in the sky.

The Sun is Yahweh

The globe in the sky sending out the rays is God the Father

The light rays that we see are God the Son

The heat rays that we feel are God the Spirit

The Trinity is 3 Persons who act together as one God. The Bible, in different verses, says they all created the world, led the Israelites out of Egypt, direct us, raised Jesus from the dead etc.

A chair can have a What-ness. What is it? It’s a chair. But a chair cannot have a Who-ness. Who is the chair? A person can have both. What is it? It’s a man. Who is it? It is Bob. He is a father and a son and a brother and a soldier and an accountant etc. Man has a What-ness and a Who-ness and so does God.

In their Essence, God is One - What is it? It is one god.

In their Person, God is Three - Who is it? God the Father, God the Son, God the Spirit
